This elegant set of four hand-carved and decorated wooden rococo Lounge Chairs from the mid-18th century embody that timeless French elegance. They are reminiscent of a classic French armchair, though these have been crafted and produced in Denmark during the mid 1800s up until 1900, in a time when Danish designers turned to their French colleagues for inspiration. The Chairs feature a curved back with intricate carvings, cabriole legs, and a curved apron adorned with Louis XV floral motifs. The graceful scroll feet and overall design make it a perfect fit for a French provincial or Hamptons-style home.

The velvet upholstery is in near-perfect condition, incredibly soft and light, offering a beautiful contrast to the deep color of the wood. The seat’s springs remain firm and strong, and the solid frame is in near perfect condition. Considering these are antiques, it’s important to always lift them from underneath, not by the armrests, to ensure they last another hundred years. All four pieces are in absolutely great shape and a rare set in this condition.

The design is reminiscent of the Reine style, with beautiful floral ornaments on the back and legs of the frame. The wood is likely walnut, showcasing an absolutely stunning grain and finish.

These are four beautiful pieces, bridging cultures and centuries, offering both visual poetry and historical depth.
