Antique 1870s Late Victorian Walnut Parlor Table with Canterbury Magazine

A beautiful antique 1870s Danish Late Victorian parlor table in solid walnut—an unusual and refined example of nineteenth-century Danish cabinetmaking with practical sculptural detailing. The round walnut tabletop sits atop a turned central pedestal column, beneath which three small canterbury-style open ledges with turned spindle gallery rails are arranged at equal intervals around the column—designed to hold magazines, sheet music, or small books within easy reach while seated. The piece rests on a graceful tripod base of three elegantly curved sabre legs sweeping outward and down.

Remarkably, the table is constructed entirely without screws—only hand-cut joinery and wooden pegs—a hallmark of the highest standard of Victorian-era cabinetmaking. The warm honey-walnut patina has developed beautifully over more than 150 years of use. The table is structurally sound and in good condition, with character marks consistent with its age.
