Danish chest of drawers in painted pine. It comes from an old farm in southern Denmark, where it stood on the first floor as a clothing cabinet in one of the larger rooms.
The painted finish is made to imitate birch root veneer. The technique is done by using multiple colors on the brush at the same time. This creates a yellow and orange tone that resembles the natural grain of wood.
There are no original keys for the locks, but keys are included and used as handles to open and close the drawers. The brass fittings have detailed work with a look that references Art Deco, adding a clear and important detail to the piece.
Drawer measurements:
3 bottom drawers: Depth 46 cm (18.1 inch), width 73 cm (28.7 inch), height 15.5 cm (6.1 inch)
1 top drawer: Depth 46 cm (18.1 inch), width 73 cm (28.7 inch), height 11.5 cm (4.5 inch)
The condition is very well kept. Despite being made from pine, which is a softer wood, the construction is solid and the piece has a good weight.
